EDP Renewables in Australia

In November 2023, EDP Renewables (EDPR) acquired ITP Development in Australia and the company became part of EDP Renewables APAC, a leading clean energy hub for the region.

The Australia team develops town-scale solar farms in Australia, undertakes solar farm landholder engagement, system design, planning approvals, financing, electrical connection approvals and commissioning.

EDP Renewables Australia maintains relationships with multiple stakeholders – communities, governments and contractors to ensure successful projects delivery.

Projects in Australia

EDPR Australia has over 3.3 GW of projects under development, with several projects already built and operational.

Each project is connected to the local distribution network, rather than the long-distance transmission network. The scale of each project is designed to match current and projected future demands for electricity (residential, commercial, industrial) within a given community.

The Merino Solar Farm at Tirrannaville would produce approximately 530 MW of energy, with an associated Battery Energy Storage System of 1200 MWh.

The Orange Community Renewable Energy Park is a 6.8 MWp solar PV system that is co-located with a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) of 10.5MWh capacity.
