EDPR completes its largest single distributed generation solar project of 19MWp in Anhui, China
China, 8 May, 2023 - EDPR has completed the construction of a 19Megawatts-peak (MWp) distributed generation (DG) solar energy project in China’s Anhui province,on the rooftop of a major consumer electronic manufacturing facility for self-consumption with a signed 20-year PPA. Construction started earlier this year and took less than 5 months to COD since award.
This is the largest single DG project undertaken by EDP Group, part of a global portfolio of 28 GW. The system is structured with 35,000 solar panels and it will generate over 22 million kWh of energy annually, equivalent to offsetting approximately 18,949 metric tonnes of carbon emissions*.
"We have been steadily growing our presence in China, constantly pushing our boundaries for scalable projects. This project proves our ability to rapidly develop such large DG sites, which is key to accelerate the energy transition in the region and worldwide. In 2022, China had renewable capacity additions yearly record at 128 GW, of which 87 GW in solar with a 58% DG share, exceeding utility-scale for the first time. This is unparalleled growth that we strive to keep capturing.” said Pedro Vasconcelos, COO of EDPR in Asia Pacific (APAC).
This project is part of EDPR APAC’s current 150MWp solar energy committed capacity in China, where the company has a strong ambition in both distributed and utility-scale projects, supporting the country’s goal of achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2060.
