Social Responsibility
EDPR works to promote the well-being and development of not only the communities where it operates but also of society in general. In order to make a positive impact on society, EDPR’s Social Investment Policy is expressed in internally developed and collaborative Social Responsibility programs and activities through volunteering and charitable contributions materialized in the operations of Fundación EDP in Spain and directly in other geographies.
Volunteering is one of the strongest implementation strategies of the Social Responsibility programs of EDPR. Besides providing several benefits to the society, the Volunteer Program aims to strengthen the employees’ commitment to the company and to the society by making a positive impact on people while developing their skills.

Through its Closer2You initiative, the company reaches out to vulnerable communities in various countries where EDPR is active—Brazil, Poland, Romania, Spain, Portugal and Mexico—in order to improve their quality of life through small actions.
Closer2you helps families that live with challenging economic conditions who need improvements made to their homes.
Closer2You works in partnership with local authorities and small business owners to provide electricity, running water and improved housing for members of these communities.
Global Wind Day
Global Wind Day provides an opportunity not only to open the doors of EDPR’s facilities and teach people how a wind farm works, but it also sponsors recreational and sporting activities.
Days like these serve as a platform for strengthening EDPR’s ties with communities in which it operates.
Children let their creativity shine while learning about the importance of caring for the environment, and parents got to spend quality time with their children.
Wind Experts
Wind Experts is a competition that aims to teach children how wind turbines work and how wind energy is generated, all while fostering their creativity.

The main goal is to develop children’s creativity and to teach them about wind power.
EDPR Rural
EDPR Rural helps rural producers and families to effectively produce and market their products in order to increase family incomes, better organise production and guarantee a diverse and secure supply.
Families enjoy a more varied and healthy diet and greater income, as well as higher expectations for their quality of life, increased self-esteem and enthusiasm about planning for a better future.
Some of the key activities include apiculture (beekeeping), meliponiculture (stingless beekeeping), free-range chicken farming, cistern installment, and structural restoration of flour mills and community farmlands.
Keep it local
Keep it local is a program developed by EDPR and Vestas, consisting of free enrollment for 24 places on the Wind Farm Maintenance Engineer course given by the Spanish Wind Power Association.
The aim of the program is to help candidates enter the labor market through training, along with the possibility of their profiles being considered in recruitment processes in the Operation and Maintenance area in both EDPR and Vestas.
This initiative is aimed at young people aged between 18 and 30 who have completed compulsory secondary education and live in areas with low population density and low levels of employment in the municipalities where wind farms are installed.
Green Education
Green Education awards scholarships to children and young people from towns and cities near facilities operated by EDPR, and aims to support the education of children from families with limited economic resources.
The program arose from the Company’s commitment to its local stakeholders and aims to ensure that local youth have access to education.
The scholarships are destined for students enrolled in elementary school, high school and college.
EDPR chooses who is awarded based on the student’s academic record and the family’s economic situation.
