Opening ceremony for a wind farm located in the district of Zgorzelec and
Sulikowo with capacity of 50 MW.
EDP Renewables, a global leader in the renewable energy sector and the world's third-largest wind energy producer, has held the opening ceremony of a new farm in the Polish district of Zgorzelec. This is the fourth wind farm owned by EDP in Poland, following the inauguration of the company's facilities in Margonin (Wielkopolska), Korsze (Warmia and Mazury), and Pawlowo (Wielkopolska).
The newly-opened wind farm in the Zgorzelec district will contribute to the fulfilment of Poland's EU commitments for the development of renewable energy sources. This will reinforce the energy security of the country and will help to reduce harmful emissions of CO2, NOX and dust.
This investment has also allowed for the improvement of the local energy and road infrastructure. During the preparatory work for the construction of the wind farm and its implementation, the investor renovated Krañcowa Street, Idzikowskiego Street (in the city of Zgorzelec) and municipal roads in the area of the wind farm. The presence of a wind farm in this area will also lead to an upturn in economic activity in the region and provide additional income for local authorities and land owners.
As investor in the wind farm EDP Renewables will also be involved in community life, supporting cultural, educational and special activities for children.
