The Dupont's lark (Chersophilus duponti) is a bird that inhabits in steppe zones and feeds on insects and seeds.
It is precisely the alteration of these steppe habitats where it lives that poses the greatest threat, after having experimented a significant drop in the last decades.
EDPR has been collaborating since 2011 with the Castille and Leon Natural Heritage Foundation in a study to determine the size and distribution of the Dupont's lark population in order to understand the degree of affection wind project development could have on this species in the town of Medinaceli.
Since then, over 100 population counts have been completed that have significantly increased the knowledge about key aspects surrounding these species, which can help manage them more effectively. This initiative has also contributed to the promotion of wind power development in a way that is compatible with the conservation of this bird species.
