EDPR NA's Employee Volunteer Program Committee organized a toy drive in the month of December. In all, 810 toys were collected and delivered to less fortunate children during the Christmas season.

Toys for Tots is a U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Program created with the objective to help less fortunate children throughout the United States by offering them a Christmas experience. Each year Toys for Tots holds annual toy collection drives in communities throughout the country. In addition, annual events such as golf tournaments are held to increase funds and interest in the Toys for Tots campaign.

The Employee Volunteer Program Committee encouraged employees outside of EDPR NA's corporate headquarters to participate.  There were nine teams participating in the toy drive that were made up of 27 departments, eight wind farms and two regional offices. The U.S. Marine Corps Reserves estimates that EDPR NA's donation helped provide toys to over 500 families. In Houston, two Marines came to the office and picked up the toys. Those toys were distributed during the organization's annual Christmas event for less fortunate families held at the George R. Brown Convention Center.

"It shouldn't surprise me that our Toys for Tots drive continues to be a success," said Employee Volunteer Program Committee Co-Chair Claudia Zepeda.  "Our employees have huge hearts and so much generosity. I'm happy that we were able to make so many kids happy for Christmas."

The Employee Volunteer Program coordinates and promotes regular monthly and quarterly volunteer activities.
