The team at Meridian Way Wind Farm has been busy spreading the word about wind energy with local students and state politicians.
On September 30, and October 14, Operations Manager Justin Steinbrock and Site Lead Technician Lucas Chavey were guest speakers at the Cloud County Community College Wind Days.
At the event, students from all over Kansas gained a deeper knowledge of wind energy and discovered opportunities for education and careers in the wind industry.
Additionally, Kansas State Senator Elaine Bowers, Kansas State Representative Don Schroeder, and Westar Energy Government Affairs Manager Laura Lutz visited Meridian Way on October 7. All of the guests climbed a turbine, and great conversations ensued throughout the day.
Lastly, on October 23, the Cloud County Kansas Farm Bureau hosted 160 fourth grade students at their annual Agriculture Day. During the event, groups of students progressed through 12 stations in order to learn more about Kansas agriculture. Michelle Graham, Meridian Way Wind Farm Administrator, attended the event and presented on wind energy to a few very eager students.
