Miguel Stilwell appointed Chairman of EDPR´s Board of Directors and CEO of the company
The executive will combine this responsibility with its functions as CEO of EDP.
Rui Teixeira, interim CEO of EDPR since last July, assumes the role of CFO, a position he will also perform for the EDP Group.
The new management team reflects the weight of EDPR’s within the Group and brings together the skills to further develop its commitment to energy transition.
Madrid, January 20th 2021. The Board of Directors of EDP Renewables’ («EDPR»), a global leader in the renewable energy field and the world's third-largest wind energy producer, has approved the appointment of Miguel Stilwell de Andrade as Chairman of the Board and CEO of EDPR. Rui Teixeira, who has been EDPR’s interim CEO since last July, has been appointed as CFO of the company.
Miguel Stilwell de Andrade and Rui Teixeira have been also confirmed as CEO and CFO of the Group EDP, so they will combine these positions with their new roles at the head of EDP Renewables.
Following these appointements, EDPR consolidates a leading management team with outstanding experience in the renewables sector and the necessary skills to face a key moment in the energy transition, to which EDPR has demonstrated a strong commitment through its contribution to the development of renewable energies. Miguel Stilwell and Rui Teixeira will work together with the three COO of the company Duarte Bello, (Europe & Brazil), Miguel Angel Prado (North America) and Spyridon Martinis (International Growth and Offshore).
The new management team reflects the increasing weight of EDPR within the Group EDP and the existing growth expectations, which will be crucial for the future development of the Group.
Also, EDPR has announced the renewal of the Board of Directors following the changes approved in EDP’s Extraordinay General Shareholders Meeting after the communication of António Mexia and João Manso Neto about their no availability to be re-elected for their positions in EDP. EDP’s shareholders have appointed a new Executive Board of Directors team and the Board of EDPR has agreed to cease António Mexia as Chairman of EDPR´s Board, and João Manso as Vice-Chairman of EDPR´s Board and CEO of EDPR.
EDPR would like to thank António Mexia and João Manso Neto for their enormous dedication and contribution to the company, for the definition and implementation of a sustainable growth strategy, that brought EDPR to be a leader in the renewables’ sector, clearly and greatly valued by the company’s stakeholders.
EDPR has also decided to simplify the Governance body, which will be composed of 12 Board members and, in addition to Miguel Stilwell, has co-opted two new Directors: Ana Paula Marques, as a Non-Executive Director, and Joan Avalin Dempsey, as an Independent Director.
Lastly, the Board of Directors has agreed that a General Shareholders’ Meeting will be summoned for the February 22nd to vote the changes proposed yesterday.
