The EDP Foundation sponsors an exhibition about Pessoa at the Reina Sofía

Employees from Spain interested in visiting the exhibition, as well as the museum, can request invitations until February 8. To do so, they should send an email to Cristina López (cristina.lopez@fundacionedp.es). This sponsorship is part of the EDP Foundation in Spain’s involvement in cultural initiatives.

Pessoa created his own avant-garde style through his more than one hundred heteronyms and numerous texts, many of them unpublished.

The exhibition “PESSOA. All Art is a Form of Literature” takes its title from a quote by Álvaro de Campos, one of the most avant-garde heteronyms of Fernando Pessoa (Lisbon, 1888-1935), published in the influential Portuguese magazine presença.

The exhibition also places special attention on magazines published during this period, such as A Águia, Orpheu, K4 O Quadrado Azul, Portugal Futurista and presença, which published some of Pessoa’s writing and acted as a sounding board for these avant-garde ideas. These publications exerted great aesthetic and ideological influence on Portuguese intellectuals during the first half of the 20th century.
