EDPR held an open day at the Carondio Wind Farm in Allande, Spain in celebration of Global Wind Day.
Local schoolchildren and their families were invited to learn about wind energy through various activities, including a drawing contest and games of badminton. They discovered the importance of wind power as a renewable energy source through an entertaining and educational wind-themed magic show.
Local representatives were also invited to participate in the festivities. María Belarmina Díaz Aguado, Director General of Energy and Mines in the regional government of Asturias, and José Antonio Mesa Pieiga, Mayor of Allande, were both in attendance.
According to EDPR CEO João Manso Neto, “Global Wind Day is a key event on EDP Renewables’ calendar, as it allows us to showcase wind power to the public. It’s a wonderful occasion to explain how a wind farm works and its benefits for society as a whole.”
