EDPR NA's Volunteer Committee organized and partnered with the "Toys for Tots" organization for its annual toy drive during the month of December.
In all, 755 toys were collected and delivered to deserving children during the Christmas season.
The "Toys for Tots" organization is a U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Program with the objective of collecting new, unwrapped toys and distributing those toys as Christmas gifts to deserving children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.
The Volunteer Committee encouraged employees in the Houston Corporate Headquarters office as well as employees at the regional and site offices to participate in this initiative. In total, 179 employees participated in the toy drive representing 12 teams, 24 departments, six wind farms, and one development office.
Team Hardrock, Coco, and Joe (Rail Splitter, Top Crop, and Twin Groves wind farms) collected the most total number of toys (203 toys), and Team Timber Road (Timber Road wind farm) collected the most toys per participant on their team (25 toys per participant).
In Houston, two Marines came to the office and picked up the toys. Those toys were later distributed to deserving children at the organization's annual Christmas event.
"I think our "Toys for Tots" annual event creates such a wonderful atmosphere around our offices," said EDPR NA Volunteer Committee Co-Chair Claudia Zepeda. "It reminds us how fun it was to be a kid and how receiving a gift can light up your day."
The Employee Volunteer Program coordinates and promotes monthly volunteer activities. Stay tuned for information on 2014 events!
